Grid current limit exceeded - 3-phase ESS, Multiplus II 48/5000/70

Is not ‘grid current limit’ acknowledged by the Victron system when loads are on the AC-in side?

I forced charging by setting the ‘minimum soc unless grid fails’ to a higher value than current soc. I can now see that the first Multi is charging at full power which combined with current AC load sums up to 27A on one phase (L1). How can I control this?

Setup is as follows;

  • 3xMultiplus II 48/5000/70 in a 3-phase configuration (grid tied)
  • ESS Assistant loaded
  • 3P75CT meter for grid
  • 3P75CT meter for PV (AC coupled)
  • JK Inverter BMS connected to CAN interface (2x15kWh)
  • DVCC enabled with limits set on both current and voltage (just to be sure).
  • No loads on the “inside” of the multis.

What is you setting for System/ESS/grid meter?

Should be “external meter”

Yes, ‘External meter’ is selected.

Does anyone know if this is the ”expected behaviour”? If so; I guess I need to use Node-red to solve the task.

Is the multiplus using more than 20A for charging? I think the grid current limit on the inverter only applies to the inverter.

If you’re using ESS you can use peak shaving to limit total grid power.

That sounds like a possible solution. I have now activated it. Will test it when sun is producing, and post the result :slight_smile:

Thanks!

@mac you were right. It works perfectly. Thanks!
