I have a system build for a friend who uses two Multiplus 48/5000 in Parallel on a single phase grid. All loads are on AC-Out. SolarEdge PV system is on AC-In. Victron vm-3p75ct grid meter is connected directly to L1 after the grid meter.
The problem I have is that when I set the Grid Current limit to 25A, the Multiplusses only use a maximum of 25A on the input of the multiplus itself. While when the SolarEdge system is producing power on the AC-in side, the grid meter shows less than 25A.
For example: Solar AC feed in is 10A and grid current limit is 25A, the total amount of current that should be available to the Multiplusses should be 35A. How do I set this up?
The limit doesn’t differentiate between sources. It sets the point at which power assist kicks in, as per the manual.
You could create a nodered flow to temporarily increase the limit by what the PV inverter is producing.
I hope that this is going to be updated on a future firmware update. Personally I have the Multi RS 6000 in my system, and in that system I can set the grid input current and multi rs input current separately:
I think I have your question “in reverse”. understanding your post I think my idea might actually work as I want it to work. Could you take a look please?
The internal current sensor can’t be ignored, sometimes the Victron is limited by the cable and the fuse to the main distribution box while the main fuse is bigger.
I have a friend who has 20A fuse for the Multiplus 5000gx because of wiring that was not replaceable and they have a 40A main fuse. The main is measured with an VM-3P75CT.
So in VE.Configure the limit is set to 18 amps. And I think there is no limit applied on the main since I saw a draw of 25A while the Multiplus was charging with 18A.
So there has to be a setting for the Victron and for the mains.
