Hi all.
I have a 3 phase setup. 13.5kw victron solar chargers and 3 x 48/5000/70 inverters. 30kwh lifepo with a 300amp 1C rating. No matter what I try, when charging from the grid, I cannot charge at more than 60 amps or just over. When I charge from solar, through the MPPT chargers I can get >150amp no problem, but not from the grid.
In theory, each inverter should charge at around 65amps giving me almost 200amps charging current from the grid but no matter what I try, no matter what settings I chose they never charge at more than a combined 60amps! My seplos BMS is 200amp and is proven to be working correctly when charging from solar.
Really need to use Dyanmic ESS as we’re entering the winter season soon here in Sweden and I need to charge faster. At 60amp/3kw, I cant charge my battery bank in time.
Any ideas? I must have restricted the charging current somewhere?
Try to temporary set the Gridset-Point to something like +15000
and see, if the multiplus are able to charge the battery at this pace. (Edit: äh… +15000
, obviously)
If not, you may have configured some AC-Current Limits that doesn’t allow the multiplus to draw enough from grid.
If they do it that way, check your configured Maximum Import/Export and Battery Charge / Discharge Power in DESS. If you setup 5 kW there, the system will create a schedule based on 5kW max charge rates, no matter if the system could achieve more.
But also keep in Mind, that DESS wont just charge your battery to 100% on the cheapest hour. It will only charge enough according to it’s created schedule. (Never saw DESS charging more than ~ 20% from grid)
Thanks for the reply. I’ll try changing the gridpoint when I get home later. Whilst I’m sat here, I’ve pulled a copy of the config from VRM and opened it here on my laptop. Looks like the Charger is “disabled”! That’s impossible, I’ve been charging from the grid for more than 1 year! I wonder if this is the issue. Do you have your Charger enabled in VEConfigure?
Interesting to see that even though it’s disabled, the grayed out charge current is 20amp for each inverter.
These would coincide with the 60amp for 3 x inverters I’m seeing. It’s possible that despite being disabled, D/ESS is still reading this value anyway!
I can confirm that despite the “Charger” being disabled, the GX was reading the Charge Current from this as 20Amp. By enabling the Charger setting in my previous post and setting it to 70A, the Multiplus II’s now changed at a combined 200Amp from the grid.
