Fluctuating AC Solar using AC from the Grid Part 2

Well yesterday was an interesting day nearly slicing off my finger stripping 16mm earth cable. Lifting up the unit to mount it gave me a good gym session. So went 25mm AC in and out, 1 meter 70mm tinned copper battery cables x2 and another distributor got rid of the battery isolator as seems one of the biggest points of failure and the BMS turns off the batteries completely.

Anyway I’ve been having issues with AC solar with a Multiplus 2 5000 in low light it seems, the Multiplus 2 5000 coupled with the VM-3P75CT is having issues when solar dips it pulls power from the grid sometimes even if the solar amount with the dip is still enough to run the house. So my Distro let me borrow a Quattro 2 5000 l0an unit which worked good only issue I had was there was no chance for upgrading as the Quattro 2 5000 is the biggest unit with anti-island, ive got no room to install two units and don’t want the added complexity of the anti-island relay unit for the bigger Qauttro’s.

So after some time 7months distro agreed to send out a Multiplus 2 10000kVA so that I could just use the critical output and let the Multiplus 2 do all the work and just use its internal current sensor and not use the VM-3P75CT as I’m not sure what happens when it’s got a monitor on the grid but it seems to use grid power almost constant as i can see from my energy suppliers data Octopus that is doing readings every 30mins.

When just using the Multiplus 2’s internal Current sensor the unit behaves a lot better, it’s not perfect but it’s not drawing from the grid every 30mins now. So the work around worked just a pain it took so long to get it sorted.

So I picked up a new data point and thought id monitor the exhuast of the Multiplus, and I 100% agree with all the comments about putting the eyelets over the threads of the units the thread the unit is like a thin feeler gauge difference meaning the fit is almost I’m possible @guystewart you might want to look into that, and i’m having issues with the grid set point when the GX shuts down and restarts the grid set point changes to -10 instead of the minus grid set point that i put in the GX any fix to this please as every firmware update and shut down its got to be adjusted again.

@Craig Chamberlain well I think my battery heater might get a break this winter as it looks like my garage now has heating as this unit chucks out some heat.

Is anyone able to tell me how to get rid of one of my data points on the VRM that seems to keep reappearing there and not on the Connect

@guystewart can you guys update the VM-3P75CT so it can display AC Load in the VRM.
Sorry admin I’ve moved this from the other website to this one hope that’s ok?
Thanks to everyone that offered assistance, much appreciated you’ve been great help though out the project.

Hi, have you posted this already in the Venus beta category? That would be the best place for it to get seen.

HI Guy ive moved to the main stream Venus OS 3.41 seems to be holding it in the GX after reboots now so all is good. But thanks
