Hey guys,
I saw the item Pylontech firmware uploaden. What does this mean, is it necessary. Is an upgrade Pylontech possible via Cerbo. Never saw this before?
Thanks in advance, Martin
Hi. This is beta functionality which is described in the relevant beta topics. These forum sections are for prod software questions, so best to go look in the correct section for more detail.
Updates are still meant to be done under instruction from the vendor. Batteries aren’t iphones so it’s best not to muck with them for no reason.
Thank you Nick, I pay attention to it.
Take a look at this:
For clarity, you have to provide the firmware files for the update which are not public domain, so not automated. I’d personally advise extreme caution and also ensure you have a backout solution. Out of six brand new US3000C updates using Pylontech’s software for a customer, one still got “bricked” and required unbricking software from Pylontech support. The data connection appear very sensitive. In the worst case with older US2000 batteries it will require new BMS hardware if bricked and still under warranty.
Ik zie het zelfde. alleen heb ik een lv hub ertussen die ziet hij niet en ik heb nu intern in mijn lv hub een error alles werkt wel gewoon lampjes branden groen hoe los ik dit op
Basically contact Pylontec support.
Yes, it is 3.70 upwards functionality.
Victron is just enabling the mechanism.
They are not providing auto updates, nor firmware files, nor encouraging updating.
This is creating an easier way for pylon support to provide update files to installers and to update packs remotely.
Everything to do with this needs to be done in conjunction with Pylon support as are any additional queries about what can or can’t be done.
This is outside of Victron’s scope.
Batteries are not mobile phones. Do not muck around with firmware unless you know what you are doing or have been instructed to do so.
i am not updating when not needed (as you can see with some other equipment) but yesterday i have added 2 additional US5000 batteries so i was checking of everything was ok. The message to take extreme caution when updating worked…
Indeed. Anyone who has tried to recover a bricked battery will know to proceed with extreme caution.
As per the slide that covers this feature for the 3.70 launch - any dealer or pylon will need to provide the files. They will be best placed to make sure it is safe to do.
Updating the main system makes me nervous enough, doing an expensive battery pack remotely more so.
This seems to be the way of the future, more and more manufacturers are enabling this or pushing their own “cloudlink” type service for remote support.
For now i have zero (0) problems. System is running flawless on V3.71 and peak shaving through the external meter for loads on AC-in side (Car Charging when battery is charging and washing machine all on the same phase) is keeping a steady 23,5 - 24,3 Amps from the 24A setting. Nice Work !!
