I’m planning a relatively small Victron system and would be interested to hear what you think about the setup.
Some additional information:
- The main purpose of the system is to store surplus solar energy when the electric car is already fully charged or is not connected.
- The battery will only feed energy back into the household electrical system, not into the public grid.
- I plan to use a dynamic electricity tariff, which means that the battery will also be charged from the grid during low-price periods in winter.
- The existing 10 kWp south-facing PV system and the Sungrow inverter are already installed, and I do not want to replace the inverter. The energy meter is intended to integrate the existing PV generation into the Victron system without requiring any software workarounds.
- The Viessmann heat pump only provides access to its power consumption data through a paid service. I therefore intend to use an additional energy meter to make its consumption visible in the Victron system.
My questions:
- I am by no means an expert when it comes to fuses and system protection. Are the proposed fuse ratings suitable? All DC cable runs will be shorter than 5 metres.
- The main battery disconnect switch between the two Lynx Power In units prevents the otherwise neat direct connection between them. Is there a better way to arrange this?
- The batteries will be installed in a dry garage attached to the house. The minimum temperature last in winter was +5°C. I would prefer to avoid the additional cost of batteries with integrated heating. Does anyone have practical experience with batteries under these conditions?
The final installation and connection will, of course, be carried out by a qualified electrician.
