The VRM interface item for a DCDC charger is an “alternator” and this reports the output voltage The output voltage (ie the house battery in most installations) is available in a few other places - MPPT, BMS etc…
To monitor the charge state of the starter battery and alternator operation it would be useful if the input voltage was reported in VRM
The input voltage is clearly detected by the DCDC charger to trigger charging It is also possible to set an alarm on the input voltage (which is handy on my boat) and you can see the data via the alarms interface. Just getting to that data is rather cumbersome
I also run a Safiery Scotty which functions as a bi-directional DCDC charger and also reports as an “Alternator” Unfortunately this unit does not provide the input voltage in the same way as an Orion DCDC. I am not sure if this is a Safiery or Victron implementation issue But in either case it would be useful if the information could be similarly reported via VRM and used as an alarm trigger
