I have a boat system which includes Victron Lithium batteries, a Lynx Smart BMS 500, a Cerbo GX, a GX Touch display, and various other items. I use the Orion to charge my AGM starter battery bank from the Lithium house bank. I use the BMS ATD signal to shut down the Orion whenever the BMS decides discharging is not appropriate. It all works quite nicely.
My issue occurs when I connect the Orion to the Cerbo via VE.direct. As soon as I do that, the Orion is put under external control (DVCC). The Orion then disregards its settings and attempts to charge the AGM battery at 2 volts above the Lithium battery settings. Also, it shows up on the display as a an Alternator, charging the house battery.
My question: Does Victron provide a way to configure the Orion as a load rather than a source, and have it show up that way in the VRM display? If I do not connect the Orion to the BMS, the charger does not appear and its current draw is just buried in the DC Power.
This question has also been asked in other threads, but no one commented or answered the question. Can a Victron representative please weigh in?
