I have same issue. It looks like if current solar production is less that specific value (I think something around 1600w), it will think that it’s not enough solar to start. As soon as some device in system starts eat enough to rump up solar, it starts charging.
On Friday, we have a webinar EVCS related, check on Victron Professional. And we can discuss topics like this.
Also have the same issue as above described with EVCS:
- batteries fully charged
- feeding to grid disabled
- full sun
- Mppt idle as no consumption
- Evcs does not start despite full sun
- Fully working if manual mode
Multi 5000/48
Mppt 250/100
Pylontech “zoo” 15000 33000
Cerbo gx , usual - no beta
All updated
Evcs 1.30
Fronius primo 3,6-1 at out1
Same situation with and without fronius at out1.
Solution is not automated - only consumption (water heater or kettle ) above 6a may start EVCS after 30s.
So system shall invent some kind of “probe” to ask mppt to produce and push energy into the car.
maybe some “simulation” ?
Maybe need to set batteries to charge 95% max and allow that “probe” untill batteries already 96%?
Unfo I was late at main webinar , only q&a and there is no recorded one distributed to understand if there was any discussion.
UPD: I have got recording of webinar, this issue was not discussed there
Hey Guys,
I’m having this exact problem.
Batteries loaded 98 %, about 6,5 Kw sun.
Nothing happening in the “automated” position.
Latest software, no clou .
In the manual position the EVCS loads with 16 amps.
Unfortunately I’ve read today about the webinar.

Hello @B.M and @Martin13. Can you please share here a screenshot of the GX device settings from the EVCS interface?
There are extra settings on the webpage of the device, check above
This setting “low excess solar power” is draining power from battery without stop untill established SOH if solar is not enough for 6a.
But I do not need to charge car if sun is not abundant this day.
I can charge it next day.
Ok I will put higher SOH value to stop draining batteries like 65%, and will test /advise results when we have full batteries charged and full sun.
You can also define for how long to discharge from the battery. The only way for the evcs to check if there is power available is to start probing.
Hey Lucian,
Thanks for youre answer(s).
I’m using Apple en configuring via VRM remote.
So no usb interface, is there a way to chance/check these settings?
Thanks in advance,
Hi, I’m not sure what you mean
Sorry Lucian,
I was not clear, but made your suggested changes. Now I’m waiting till the sun starts shining .
I report, with the experience from B.M. in mind, my status back.
Thanks
Today we had a rather Sunny day.
First the backup battery was charged, and then unfortunately nothing happened.
As the amount of sun reached 7 kWh still no start.
What else can I do?
Can you share a video from the main webpage of the device while this is happening?
Thanks for you’re quick response Lucian.
The coming 2 days the weather forecast looks terrible .
So I have to wait a few days I’m afraid
Keep you posted
Ok it worked fine this time
It started charging having whatever PC solar is (like 600w as batteries were full) taking another part from battery to min 6a and gradually tested what Pv solar can give maximum during abt 5/10 minutes and started maximum available
Hello Lucian,
Nice update here for EVCS, as always. For other components of my system each update is working perfectly. When it comes about EVC and updates, is always, always a problem. Who is realeasing this stuff? Is get even tested before release? Please provide a solution, thanks
Take a look at this:
I guess that doesn’t happen with every CS and Victron can’t test it on dozens of CS.
