EVCS in Victron Connect but not showing in VRM

Hi all,

I am currently setting up my complete new system, and most have been fairly easy. But for some reason my EVCS is not showing up in the device list of VRM.

It is connected to Victron Connect and via the IP of the EVCS I can easily “detect” the Cerbo GX.
I ahve tried to White list the IPs with no luck and also added the IP of the EVCS under Modbus TCP on the Cerbo GX. But still no luck.

Anyone had this issue before?

Hello Martin.
Check please, Modbus discovered devices settings in the GX remote console. Discovered EVCS should be enabled.

Hi Nicolas.

I have checked and nothing. Attached a few pictures.

ok, I see.
If you use only one physical router, you can set the WiFi ‘Scan period’ to 0 on the EVCS side.

GX detects EVCS by mDNS. Can you please check the settings of your router to ensure that there is no restriction for mDNS(Multicast Filtering, isolation, etc)?

Hi again,

I am afraid its the same. Visible in Victron Connect but still not in VRM, Portal or Console.

I checked all my settings mDNS is enabled. I am using a Unify Router and the EVCS is connected to a U6+. Signal is good and connection is fine via the IP. Just won’t show up in VRM.
Also tried a factory reset of the charger but same results.
Is it possible to force look for new devices in VRM or is that done constantly on the backend already?

Martin

Hello Martin. Here is similar problems described:
link1, link2 and a guide for mDNS configuration.
Could you please check it

Hi Nicolas.

I have been through my Unifi settings.
mDNS was already enabled, and the Cerbo GX and EVCS is on the same AP in the Garage, a U6+. Also tried forcing both on the living room AP which is a U7 Pro with same results.

I am really not sure what stone to turn anymore. Would a Cerbo GX reset so anything?

are both devices in the same subnet?
if yes, can I connect to your system and take a look? I need the portal ID

I have a same problem.
Steps to fix.

  1. same subnet for evcs and cerbro
  2. manual set ip adress for this devices (not sure is mast have)
  3. chech conection in remote conole and evcs (ok but still no data)
  4. in remote console find customer services and turn on Modbus TCP slidebar
    its work for me bye.

Thanks for the suggestions. I already tried and checked all this. So i am afraid it didn’t solve the issue.

Latest thing I have noticed after going through all the Default VRM Instance numbers is that I first thought my Smart meter which had a default “40” as Id, and read somewhere the EVCS had the same (maybe a coincidence)

But also notice a lot of devices have I’d 100 & 1.

Noticed this the other day. The IP is indeed the EVCS. So the network sees it but some sort of conflict I guess

Solution have been found.
Upgraded to the latest 3.60-85 Beta FW and that made it work.
Before I noticed I couldnt use the “Manual Scan” for Modbus devices, nothing would ever happen. With the new FW i noticed the Scan go up in %% and after 100% it, found the device and I just switched it on.
