Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to report a specific connectivity issue with the EV Charging Station NS 22kW.
The Problem: The station is unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network if the SSID is hidden. As soon as I disable the “Hidden” attribute in my controller and broadcast the SSID, the station connects immediately and works perfectly. Once hidden again, the connection is lost and cannot be re-established.
My Network Setup:
-
AP/Controller: Ubiquiti UniFi.
-
WiFi Profile: Enhanced IoT Connectivity (minimized restrictions for better compatibility).
-
Security: WPA2.
-
Frequency: 2.4 GHz (standard).
Observations: It seems the station’s Wi-Fi module or firmware doesn’t properly handle “Passive Scanning” or probe requests required to find hidden networks. Even with high-compatibility settings like “Enhanced IoT” in UniFi, the hidden status remains a dealbreaker.
Given this is a standard Wi-Fi protocol feature, it is quite inconvenient to be forced to broadcast the SSID just for one device.
Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a planned firmware update that addresses the handshake logic for hidden SSIDs?
Hardware details:
-
Device: Victron EV Charging Station NS 22kW
-
Connection: Wi-Fi
Looking forward to any insights or workarounds.
