EV Charger NS Can't update firmware from 1.24

Hi I have installed a brand new charger as above and upon setup the charger is stuck on the firmware upgrade from 1.24 to 2 and I cannot find a resolution.

The person on the thread below resolved the exact same issue by connecting to the charger via a GX device. Unfortunately my customer doesn’t have a GX device.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

I had the problem more then ones. First of all, if you can cornnect via the EV chargers internal wifi, to your PC you can update it manualy throw there, Appendix 8 tells the way. If that is not an option, you need to make an RMA.

Hello @nellyccc3. So, without a GX device, there are still 2 ways to update:

  1. EVCS internal web interface. See how to open it in Appendix 8. You also need the latest EVCS firmware file, which can be downloaded from the Victron Professional site’s Firmware, EVCS section.

  2. Over the Victron Connect APP. Since FW v1.24, BLE is enabled, and Victron Connect can establish a local connection over BLE with EVCS. Once you are connected to EVCS, Victron Connect will remind you to update the firmware to the latest version. Pay attention that the smartphone should be connected to the same WiFi network as EVCS. If EVCS WiFi is in AP mode, the smartphone should be connected to it.
If EVCS WiFi is connected to the local router, the smartphone should be connected to the same router.

Thank you for your kind replies but unfortunately I have the same problem as in the thread. I can connect to the SSID broadcast by the charger but I cant gain access to the web interface as the unit is stuck trying to update the firmware and I cant reset it. Even by pressing the DEF button

Once you’re connected to the EVCS Wi-Fi network, you should be able to open the web interface. All services(including updates) are restarting after turning the power off and on.

Here are a few things to try if it doesn’t work:

  1. Move closer to the EVCS device. If the signal is weak, the interface might not load properly.
  2. Check the address in your browser — it should be http://192.168.0.1
Sometimes the browser adds https:// automatically, which can cause the page not to load. Just replace it with http.

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately, as stated in the original link and by me a couple of times, you CAN’T login to the unit via a web browser when it’s connected to the EVCS WiFi as it’s stuck in this firmware update loop.

I have resolved the matter by removing the unit and taking it back to my house where I have a GX device. I then connected the EVCS to the GX via WiFi and inputted the username “admin” and password “on the sticker inside the unit”

Then I could connect to the EVCS via the web interface 192.168.0.1 using the same login details and upload the latest firmware.

I still do not know how to resolve the matter without using a GX device.

I hope this helps.
