EVCS with screen, failed to update. Many retries even DEF button procedure no luck

Let me outline what was done and note before this I had zero issues :

  1. Update from 1.27 to 2.0 which made my screen stay in “Loading”.
    The EVCS basics worked fine ! But noticed the web access somewhat slower specially the login. So screen inoperable but EVCS working.

  2. Tried to correct, as per advise from Victron Staff, to upload multiple times V.2.00 until correct but never got it working. Kept staying in “Loading”.

  3. Connectivity became very slow and latency issues arose from normal to 4224.508 ms as an example. Which to me clearly is proof that the software is malfunctioning.

  4. Tried to reset the network to remove the current WIFI profile and create a new WIFI connection. But then it did not remove the old and showed the new side by side.
    So 2 WIFI connections with same name same logo’s same status etc… clearly software issue.

  5. Tried to use the COG wheel default settings in Victron Connect to reset to factory defaults.
    Now the EVCS restarted but became unaccessible. The screens keeps showing “Loading”…

  6. Tried to reset 15sec DEF button inside. After 15sec the EVCS flashes blue on the rings ,… I release but… stilll its unaccessible, with “Loading” on the screen.

I am pretty skilled on IT , also delivered many EVCS’es with and without screen to our customers but this issue is with our test/demo unit and I do not feel confident to upgrade our customers remotely as the results are not stable and what they should be.

Any advice to what to do now ?

What do you mean with “unaccessible”?
After resetting with the DEF button you have to do the first setup via the access point again.

If that doesn’t work you should contact your seller.

I mean :

  • no bluetooth
  • no wifi access point

This is all due to issues with v2.00 firmware upgrade sequences.

Can you confirm that it should revert to v.1.24 ?
As currently with DEF button … it did not.

The DEF button only resets the settings not the firmware.

Then we have a bricked charger :frowning: .
I will try the DEF procedure a few times before launching an RMA with the distributor. ( we are reseller ).
I was hoping for a procedure like restoring Venus OS on GX or something.
The charger after power down show a continuous loading picture ( with the dots animating ) but no BT or WIFI AP.

@Lpopescu, can you assist me here ? I talked to Matthijs on Friday ( on the Cerbo MK2 issue ) and he mentioned you are the one to get this either solved or explained.
I have the feeling that there are a few topics opened on the upgrade issues to FW.2.0 and some people are in a different stage/phase of the upgrade encountering problems

I passed that stage already and now have a bricked EVCS after doing the DEF procedure.

My problem phases were :

  1. upgrade from 1.27 to 2.00 resulted in a working and accessible EVCS but display issue ( so firmware of the display not loaded correctly )
  2. trying to correct the display issue by consecutively trying to upgrade manually as per your advice.
  3. No luck in getting the display to work but now the EVCS is not accessible by browser only by victron connect. The device is pingable ( but very poorly ). Looks like a bad network connection low latency but its clear the software at fault here not responding fast enough.
  4. However as it seems to be network I tried to reset the WIFI settings which resulted in a double presentation of the WIFI profile. So WIFI SSID is shown twice !!
  5. As it now seems that the EVCS has configuration issues I tried to use the DEF procedure after which the default WIFI AP and or BT should be used to “reconfigure” the EVCS.

Sadly enough … no BT and no default WIFI AP to connect to …
The screen still shows " loading with the dots stil animating"

Need to know if to send in for RMA or if we you have a solution.
But I dare not to upgrade and help my clients to V.2.00 as this is getting so time-consuming.
