Ess charging battery from grid when solar is available

This one is a bit hard to explain, but I will try.
Previously when I selected the ESS mode optimise with battery Life and selected 50% the inverter would run off the batteries until it hit 50% and then it would supplement the grid power to whatever current usage I was having. This also was true when solar started to be generated. The grid would slowly back off as the solar started generating.

But two days ago it changed now. The system always is using grid and it is also putting approximately 1 1/2 kW of charge into the batteries constantly. This includes when the solar starts generating the grid is still prioritised over the solar consumption

This is really doing my head in and if anyone can help me sort of explain what’s going on would be much appreciated

Because basically what’s happening is with any of the ESS settings except for external control. I will go to bed and the battery is at 55% and I’ll wake up and the battery is 3/ quarters charged which is silly because then the solar starts coming in and I can’t utilise the solar.

My system is a Victron multi RS solar x3 with a ekrano gx

Here are some screenshots of what’s happening

This shows greet is supplying the load and also providing charge to the batteries, which is what I don’t want to do

I tried to add another link to show the below statementAs you can see here at about 6 o’clock on this day, it went from behaving how I wanted to to This irregular charging of the batteries
Sorry, I’m only limited to 2 links per post
Thank you

This is the link that shows the grid starting to charge the batteries at approximately 1.5 kW/hstarting at about 6 o’clock

This link shows the solar generating and the grid is still putting in the load +1.5 kW before this all changed last week when the solar started generating the grid would back off eventually going to 0 when the solar generation was greater than the load

If you select ‘battery life’, the Active SOC increases by 5% every day until the battery is fully charged. I run 1 ESS with battery life, and the other 2 ESS I have are without battery life.

If you only have a single ESS, then use it without battery life, and it will go to the minimum SOC.

What do these settings look like?

This was mostly solved by updating the firmware on the multi RS units

Do you know how to get more fields in the ESS screen?
