ESS and Charger behavior (Backup generator for Power outtage)

Yes, but the generator on the output also does not work if frequency shifting is turned off.

The multi even alters the frequency in small amounts up and down if there is no grid.

What i also do not understand is why can’t i simply tell the multi that the source is now a generator and it changes the behavior like no ess is set.

Other products do exactly that, if you tell them that now the power is coming from a genset it always pulls at least a few amps and disconnects if power is getting close to 0 (danger of islanding)

And the most disappointing part is that in every manual Victron is telling that ess with generator works but it simply doesn’t.

I faced similar issues with the generator input continuously turning on and off. Last week, my supplier, Spinnacle Power (https://spinnaclepower.co.za/), upgraded my system to Victron VE.Bus firmware v555 (see article: VE.Bus v555 released - genset compatibility and German §14a EnWG - Victron Professional).

This completely resolved my issues.

I strongly recommend trying this firmware upgrade.

Hope it helps!

Thanks,

Renier

It says it works with a quattro, not a multi.
Dual inputs vs single inputs.
You can change the settings with a mk3, it just isn’t dynamic.

it is already too late, the victron parts are going to be removed this saturday and will be replaced by a way better product.
and anyway i do not have any confidence that a firmware update will solve this issue

and no it also does not work on quattros, did a lot of tests.
