Hello,
I am receiving the following error message from my solar charger in my motorhome:
#33 SmartSolar Charger Input voltage too high.
I have 5 solar panels installed, each with 100 watts.
To fix the problem, I want to install the SmartSolar MPPT 150/60-Tr instead of the MPPT 100/30.
What do you think? Can I solve the problem this way?
Thank you for your reply.
Best regards,
Thomas
Input voltage is a hard limit, if you exceed this you risk damaging the MPPT, therefore it would be wise to install a new controller with a higher voltage rating. You could remove one panel from the string in the mean time to reduce voltage to safe levels.
Victron have an MPPT calculator, If you know your panel details (Voc, Vmp, Imp, Isc and the location) this can provide good guidance on the best MPPT.
