Hi has any one tried to use Dynamic ESS
I have had set up with my Octapus account but it does seem to work
I.E when the tariff is low ( 2am to 5 am ) it won’t charge the batteries but starts to charge from the grid when tariff is high ( 4pm to 7pm)
Even if I set the discharge level on VRM to 50% 25% even 90% seems to make no difference
I have had to turn it of and use my own node red algorithm for charge cycles from the grid to work correctly but it is winter and solar not very good
Also tried with fully charged battery and expect to export to grid on peak rate not a low rate as I have seen it do
Yes. I’ve been using it for a few days (having just switched to Octopus Flux). It’s far from perfect and does do perverse things (like charge the battery from the grid even when it is sunny, and due to be so all day (which will more than fill the battery)).
But mine works better than yours, in that it discharges at max from 4-7pm, and broadly fills the batt from solar, then exports excess.
What do you mean by ‘set the discharge level on VRM to 50%’?
Are you saying that the schedule it makes simply has no export scheduled? That’s reasonable at this time of year if you set it to ‘green’, but if you set it to ‘Trading’ then yes you should expect some export.
Some images or numbers on how much you import/export normally, and size of PV/batt, and the schedule you are getting and prices you have set, would help a lot. It’s hard to say anything more that ‘yes it mostly-works for me’.
