I’ve installed several grid-connected Victron systems and most of them when Dynamic ESS is configured are working fine.
However, I do have one system which doesn’t seem to be feeding back much to the grid and I can’t understand why. The forecast in VRM does show intended feed back to the grid: battery SoC lowering until a charging schedule kicks in at the end of the day - but this never actually happens.
At first, I thought this was because I had recently added a second MPPT with more solar generation so expected VRM and Dynamic ESS to need some time to adjust based on forecast solar production. But this has now updated and the solar forecast is pretty accurate, but still it doesn’t feed much back to grid.
During the day, excess solar is fed back to the grid so that’s working. I just can’t understand why it doesn’t do it late afternoon before the charging schedule kicks in in order to maximise the financial return.
Here’s an example of what is “planned”:
Dynamic ESS also shows the planned export from battery to grid - blue bar from 20:00 to 21:00.
But the export to grid at the end of the day never occurs.
edit: here’s what typically happens (data from a couple of days ago):
Here are the current Dynamic ESS settings:
