Does anyone have a recommendation for a crimping tool for attaching copper tube terminals onto 70mm2 cable? I have a manual crimp tool that goes up to 50mm2 but have been looking at bigger manual “pliers” type tools and manually pumped hydraulic tools - there are some on Amazon for about £30 with hex crimp dies but that seems suspiciously cheap. I’m doing a few crimps (about 50 eventually) so want something that will last more than 5 minutes. Thanks for any advice.
Mine can do upto 120 manual ones 16.0mm² - 120mm² Heavy Duty Crimp Tool not the cheapest but worth k very well
Thanks - I have looked at that one and nearly bought it. I wondered if hydraulic would be better.
I have one of these and used from 16mm2 up to 70mm2 with good results. Apparently can be used up to 90mm2
Simple and effective! Around £30
The tool is good I didn’t want something that would wear piston wise this is just as is and if you ever needed to do 120mm you got the tool, lots of tools on amazon I couldn’t guarantee how well they would work as some said they where lose so just opted for the electrical wholesaler
I can highly recommended any of the Klauke tools and their lugs, definitely not cheap but can easily cope with continued professional use, they come up on ebay occasionally.
you really only need hydraulic crimper for 240mm^2 and upwards. manual tools will be cheaper for good quality,
Great advice thanks Mike
