CP Calibration - Aborted?

I have just installed an EVCS NS. First set up and firmware 2.0 complete, but I’m failing to get a connection between the EVCS and the vehicle (Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV). The type II cable is an Aptiv branded 32A single phase, and the resistances on the cable seem fine, though the PP line is possibly slightly high at 440ohm (measured with Fluke 324).

When I try to Calibrate CP I have an error message returned :
“Aborted! Calibration aborted by the user.”

If I try to Calibrate CP with no cable installed I get the same message, but as far as I can see there’s no obvious problem with the cable.

Any ideas?

Hello @james.w .
Can you please update your EVCS to v2.02(the latest FW)? You can do that over the VRM or EVCS internal web interface. Also, please check that you are using the latest version of the Victron Connect APP.

Hi, Yes FW v2.02 is already installed and the version of Victron Connect on iPhone is the latest.

In FW v2.02, CP calibration is performed automatically when you connect the EV. So, you don’t need to make additional calibration. Do you see any problems with EV detection(connected, disconnected)?

The EV detection is showing as Disconnected when the cable is connected. The car (Outlander PHEV) can see the cable, but the EVCS does not seem to see the cable

ok. That should be investigated. I’ll write you a PM.

Hi, I’ve just checked with another type 2 cable to verify that the cable I was using was not faulty. This has the same result. The car is still Disconnected. They are both good cables which work with other chargers. Please let me know what to do now?

Hello @James.
I sent you a PM. Can you please check it

I have an identical problem with a Mitsubishi I-MiEV. The car is not properly detected by the evcs and charging does not work.
When I plug it in its show for a few seconds, then disappears. With the previous fw version I was able to ‘force’ a charge using the manual mode. But version 2.02 does not allow me to start charging without and identified car it seems.

So might be a Problem with older Mitsubishi cars?

downgrade to 2.01 fixed the issue. so it seems really to be a problem with the cp line auto-calibration

Hello, I can confirm that there is a problem with the latest FW. When I installed 2.0.1 everything works. Remember that if you start and stop charging with the latest version, you only disconnect the cable from the car, the relay does not disconnect the mains voltage, this can be dangerous. (SKODA Elroq).

Hello,

my Skoda Enyaq has a similar problem. If I read back the modbus-CP-Voltage it will show me 7,8 to 8,0V. The tolerance for “CP EV-connected” is 9V (+/-1V).
If I start the CP calibration manually, the error message says “the user aborted the calibration”.

I’m using FW2.03/5.2

Any ideas?

Hello @Jch .In FW 2.03, CP calibration is performed automatically when you connect EV to EVCS by default. The ‘Calibrate‘ button is no longer available in the web interface. For the Victron Connect app, it will be the same from upcoming releases; until then, it will return that error(or you can install the latest VC beta).

There is a Modbus register 5133. If set to 0 - CP auto calibration will be deactivated, and the calibrate button will behave as usual.

Hi @flashfingaz . Any update? I also have a 2011 I-MiEV and just installed an EVCS and was VERY disappointed to run into the same problem as you. I’ll downgrade the FW and see if that fixes it. As an IT security professional it feels very awkward and wrong to have to do that.

@Nicolas any possibility this problem will get solved so we can use the latest FW without us having to hack anything?

Hello @nickcohn . Could you please clarify which firmware version you’re experiencing the issue with? The latest version is v2.05 - please try updating to that one first.

Hi @Nicolas . Thanks for the quick reply. I updated to EVCS_Main_FW_OTA_V02.05_C024, then EVCS_Main_FW_OTA_V02.05_C025 before plugging in the car. The car reacts to the cable being plugged in and the EVCS shows “Charging”, then after 5 seconds or so the EVCS stops the charging and reports “EV disconnected”. I’ve just downloaded 2.01

Okay, so the EVCS detects the EV initially. Are you sure the EV plug is fully inserted into the EVCS port? We’ve had a few cases with similar behavior, and the issue turned out to be a poor connection.

Also, I can connect to your EVCS to check the calibration, if you don’t mind.

OK. I’ll try that first. Yes your welcome to have a look at the EVCS. What info do you need to do that?

Unplugged and re-inserted the cable into the EVCS, pushing extra hard. Same result when plugging in the car.

Sent you a PM.
