My EVCS has the following problem:
It does not detect the vehicle when connected. After CP calibration everything is fine and charging can be started. But when the vehicle battery is full, EVCS does not stop charging and tries to start again and again. After a new calibration, EVCS says “charged”. But the next day, the vehicle is not detected again, when connected. When i do not recalibrate when fully loaded, the vehicle is detected at the next attempt.
So it seems that a “calibration-window” is moved and either connection or load-end is not able to be detected/communicated.
I tried with two different cables, the problem remains.
Has anyone made the same experiences. Or any idea, what i could do?
Thanks for your replies.

You don’t have to perform calibration all the time, that should be happening only once if necessary.
So it seems that a “calibration-window” is moved - not sure what you mean by that
EVCS does not stop charging and tries to start again and again - The evcs is reacting to the commands received by the vehicle. If you check the settings, there is a parameter to keep the relay active when the battery is full. That should solve the retry issue.
Hello Lucian,
thanks for your reply!
You don’t have to perform calibration all the time, that should be happening only once if necessary - I know. That ist the reason for starting a topic in here ;-).
The evcs is reacting to the commands received by the vehicle. If you check the settings, there is a parameter to keep the relay active when the battery is full. That should solve the retry issue. -The parameter “Contactor active when charged” in the settings is set to “disabled”. But the EVCS does not open the contactor and end charging. It tries again and again. (so it does not react to the commands of the vehicle). Only when I perform a calibration at this state, EVCS reacts and charging es ended. But then, as I described, next time the vehicle is connected, cable/vehicle is not detected. So I have no other chance than to calibrate again, so that charging can be started…but then, “battery full” is not detected anymore. That is what I meant with “it seems a calibration window ist moved”: I can calibrate EVCS so that connection is detected (but then not load-end) OR I can calibrate it in a way that load-end is detected but then cable is not detected next time…both seems to be impossible.
It tries again and again. (so it does not react to the commands of the vehicle) - that means it is reacting to the command received by the vehicle. Put it on enable
calibrate the CPline with the cable connected and the vehicle not charging, and try again
But according to the manual this value should be set to “disable” when I want connection to be split.
If the car is requesting for power over and over, enable it
I am completely confused now, but it seems to work now.
Thank you for your time.
Not sure why you’re confuse. When the car is full, to remain full, from time to time is requesting the charger to start charging again. On some vehicles the hysteresis is different than the others. That’s why we’ve added the option to keep the relay active
Hello Lucian,
I´m confused because “contactor active…” was “enabled” and then EVCS showed “Charged” and this for a long period. So, it seems that the EV is not requesting for power. (it´s a VW Up and has no devices activated that would consume power while parking)
And I don´t know, what brings you to the assumption that EV is requesting for power. The problem I tried to describe is that when EV is completely charged (or charging is interrupted by pushing a button in EV) EVCS shows “charging” but 0,00kW, then one can hear the contactor open and for one second “charged” ist displayed before the symbol for the connected car turns from green to black and says “starting”. Then symbol turns to green and “charging” is displayed but also with 0.00kW for about twenty seconds. Than the game starts again. (not from time to time, every 30 seconds!) This behavior I would interpret as the EV is rejecting to be charged.
But now I have another symptom:
The display on the EVCS regularly is freezing partly or complete and/or is showing different (and senseless) things than the browser interface or VRM. (e.g. “Loading…”, Stopping…", “charged” but 8 Amps, QR code as overlay on other items and so on). This state can only be reversed by turning off power or restart the EVCS.
I hope, my problem now is more clear.
