Procedure to Stop charging Zoe

I am having Trouble to Stop charging my Zoe on the EVCS without Display.

Start Charging works totally OK.
When i want to Stop charging before the car is full, i cannot find a sequence that works without the Zoe releasing the cable without signaling an Error and the Message “Check charger”.
I have tried every combination possible.
Press Stop in web Interface, then Button in Zoe, the other way around, etc.
I think IT worked OK a while (one or two Firmware Versions ago).
I have calibrated the cp Signal after going Back to previous fw. Did Change nothing.
I Always charge with 3P from 6 to 16A, Zoe is from 2021,135.
IT “feels” Like EVCS is Not communicating IT wants to Stop charging, and this Zoe goes directly to Red Error Like If Power Just switched Off.
Any ideas?

Hi what is the firmware version on the EVCS?

Serial: HQ2309E3MJT
Currently installed version is 2.01, although the web display says “2.1”.
Version 2.01 allows for manual calibration via web interface, version 2.02 (latest) just says “…aborted” when trying to calibrate. Manual and automatic calibration does not help to solve the problem.
The charging works totally ok, either with auto or manual start, also changing A while charging is always ok.
If i fully charge the car, the charging stops and i can unplug the cable without error.
I do not remember for sure, but i think i press the unplug button in the car, and unplug the cable.
I seldom do charge to 100%, so i do not remember for sure.

It is just the stopping while charging which leads to an error on the car side display inside says “check charger port/Ladeanschluss prüfen” and the Light on the cars charging port goes to blinking red, which signals an error.

It does not matter if i stop via button in car or in app.

Real Problem is, the car does not release the cable lock, so i have to serveral times try to start charging again, unplug the charger cable, plug it again and press the unplug / charge door open button again and again. Really fucks up my view of electric cars.

I do not remember wunder which version it worked, but will try going backward.

It “feels” like the EVCS just stopy charging as requested either way, but the communication with the car does not refelct the fact it is done, so the zoe just sees the power going away and signals an error.

The Zoe is said to be “empfindlich” with chargers, I can not confirm that for my situation.
I have never had a problem with public chargers and no expierience with other private wallbox chargers, but also not that broad expierience in general.

The Zo is of the latest generation 135/52A.

Please don’t post your serial numbers here in public.

Hello @tjirsch. We can try to modify some EVCS settings related to stopping charging. Can you please check my post in this topic. If you are not able to do that, I can do it from my side, but I will request access to your setup.

Hello @Nicolas,

Yes, I will try it. I thank you for the quick answer.

As the weather need to be around 30 °C to have a battery temp above 26 °C, it should be possible to have results at the end of the week. I’m in Toulouse, France.

PS: Sorry I answered on the wrong post. But I think problem is linked to the « Zoe not charging with hot weather »

Hello,

thank you for the reply.
What setting should I change?
In the post, only the contactor active when charged setting is mentioned, which is disabled, and modbus settings in general.
I am able to set modbus registers , which should i change?

Holding register 5108. By default it is 2s. Can you please change it to 0.

Writing 0 to the register 5108 of the EVCS solved it.
I am doing this with the modbus integration and a manual flow in cerbos node red.
Zoe can now terminate Charging via in car button.
Will test if stopping charge via vrm portal/app also works, although i do not expect a change to that error.

Thanks a lot.

I can now stop charging without errors (Zoe charge port flashing red, No charging possible in yellow in car after that) via the app or vrm or web interface.

Funny enough, i get the message “internal value changed, no support” after changing register 5108 to a value that makes the evcs work within the specs of the iso norm.

Whatever, thanks again!

wanted to report again:

Now charging in Auto mode works like i expected it when i bought the Victron evcs.

Plug the car and the Rest just happens.

As my Zoe has a DC 3Phase Port it could charge up to 50A (but i set it to 16A) and goes down to 6A, charging from Battery down to 95% then uses Grid until time is up. I have set timeout to 30mins, 16A as max, and allowed grid power/Battery to be used if there is not enough Solar.
I will disable that and check if charging will restart correctly.

Up to now, stop charging mean Car error mode saying no charging possible for about one hour.

It all did not work because a default was set out of spec, that made the zoe think the charger was not responding correctly.
