Could it be i blew up my MP2-8000 inverter? ( or blew hemself up)

The system is working now for 2 months ( no problems at all) …

1h ago.. we heared a enormly load ploef …
And victron restarted …and its smells like burned electonics

But L2 does not startup

On L2 there is a PV inverter 4kw on output .. so less than the 1:1 rule.( programmed in config) , its a fronius 4k

We where doing nothing in the house .. so could not be a fault on the lines …

But now the L2 inverter does not startup anymore …

Iam off grid so no grid input ( they are working on the cable outside , to fix it ,so i can go semie offgrid)

Batteries are at 55v ( full)

When i test all my switches (230v),they are off and still nothing on the victron inverters …

When i switch on the MP2s to the front( switch) ( all 3) , than i see it startup , but 5 sec later they all tuns off again and restart … so no luck .. but i think thats the charger only modus ..

Than u get error 10 on cerbo ( system time sunc error)

On stand 1 = i get Expected devices error ..

Someone more ideas? I really think the L2 inverter has gone to heaven ..

Did you switch off your AC In BEFORE they worked on the cable outside?

The smell is of course bad …
Have you checked everything visually, contacts, fuses and cables …
Do you have an MK3 interface to hand
The best way to switch the multi-compound on and off is via the “Software” switch in the Remote Console … and then the hardware switches …

The grid was / is off , the main fuse.. the diff.. and the island relais ( 2) where / are off..

That was my first thought , they did something , but it could not be that

The checking , i will do that tomorrow , will demount the L2 inverter…

Fuses external are all ok , dc side ok .

They do not start up even with all the ac-output off …

You can delete the group configuration and try to start the inverters individually … Disconnect the VE Bus connection and ALWAYS ONLY SWITCH ON INDIVIDUALLY without AC Out.
Then you can use the MK3 and VE Configure to view the system status live …

Ok some “improvement”

I could startup L2 inverter..
How i did it , i do not know …:face_with_peeking_eye:

So … i lett the system off for the night .
This morning , i did a firmware update and they came back alive .. dont ask how.

I redid ALL the programming in ve config. 3phase setup .

The situation NOW

The inverters discharge from batterie ,they see the grid … ( remember i was offgrid for the past 2 months with any issues)
And all my loads come from them again …

BUT NOW

When i disconnect the grid .. they go to ups mode … BUT only for about 30sec.
Than they reboot and i get on cerbo - system time sync error - and off they go again … and than on and than off again .. you get the picture …

If grid is back.. they work again like it “should be”

Gridcode is : belgium ( but i tested germany and the no grid code option doesnt work neither)

So what could be the problem now?:grimacing:

Ps: i still do not trust the inverters 100% after yesterday .. but they " work"

Edit : the off is even triggered in the cerbo

How is that even possible ?( i dod not select off ) .. but when i get it back to on, in about 30sec. Its off again … ( sidenote, node red is off)

Personally I think the error message - system time sync - has a lot to do with it..

The time is indeed not correct. But I can’t set it correctly either, only time zone, but it doesn’t work (cerbo has internet)

#10 Error means that there is a communication error between the components.
Check the VE bus cables between the participants and swap the order of the multis …
The only way to find out what has caused the odour is to open the covers and take an ‘odour sample’ in the device and look at the components … A FET stage may be defective or a relay may have blown …
Unfortunately, remote diagnosis is almost impossible

old article but its like myn

on the old forum. from andybierlair

BUT correct, i maybe demount them and look inside de MP2s

and remember , i could go to the inverters via VE-config , so normaly the cables would be good, correct.

@Boekel

Hoi Steffen ,

I tested it seperated , so i programmed on every inverter L1 ( 1 phase ) AND inverter 1 and 3 stayed , inverter 2 did start but after 10sec. Off …

I even tested inverter 1 and 3 , in a 2 phase system … works perfect and stayed on ..

And no time sync errors in 2 phase system

So iam 95% sure the inverter 2 has gone to heaven

Thanks for the tips :saluting_face::saluting_face:,

next week i will get in contact with my shop… for a warranty claim
