Hello everyone, I am getting ready to commission my system soon and was hoping for some pointers or things I should look for in the manuals. My system consists of 2 Victron 300ah 12v NG batteries feeding an NG lynx 500 A BMS. For the time being I’ll be charging through a 12 v 3kw Multiplus inverter charger that I will need to program. There is a smart battery protect managing some of the loads, an Orion TR smart DC-DC to charge the AGM start battery, and an MPPT solar charger that will eventually help charge the system. A cerbo gx manages the whole system and communicates over can bus with a wakespeed 500 alternator regulator to charge with the engine. I’ll start by bringing the BMS online, then the Multiplus which will have to be programmed, then the smart battery protect, finally the Orion. Any tips or things to research would be appreciated, thanks!
Sounds like you have the SOP lined up.
Commissioning starts with a physical check.
Wires correct gauge, fusing, crimps torque correct as per manual. Polarity correct?
Correct and all comms cables installed.
Battery on. Gx on communication correct?
Inverter on -communcating, prgrammed. Outout checked with meter
Battery charging and discharge correctly.
Orion comms check - programmed. Function check.
Repeat for all components
The battery protect should control critical equipment not on their mains side only.
Do this planning and wiring carefully!!
E.g. Heating systems should switched off over their control loop (thermostate/regulator gets its mains over the BP. In case of UVP the control says “off”).
If you suddenly disconnect the heating unit over the central mains, this may damage the hot section due to the missing (and maybe mandatory) cooling down sequence
