we have a complete Victron setup in our caravan, “attached” to the Color COntrol GX there is a Quattro Inverter etc. which does not matter for the issue I am currently facing.
I did not change anything and today I wanted to check the batter of the camper but the Color Control GX is displayed as “offline”.
But if I go into the Color Control I can see it is up&running and realtime connected (see second screenshot) but the values that usually are displayed there (battery 100%, voltage in etc) are not displayed.
I checked the caravan, connectivity is there and that also shows the detail screen indicating “realtime”.
As said, nothing was changed and caravan was not moved/accessed etc., stopped without any interaction. Loggin into the web shows me 2 messages from 2 days ago which could be the time since the system shows offline, the messages area attached.
Does anyone know whether something is going on the Victron side/servers, could not find a status page? Or does anyone have an explanation for the system suddenly not display values
ok found the issue which does not make it better…see photo attached, it’s the error Color Control Issue #42 that indicated a defect with the internal storage.
tried to insert 16GB Micro SD Card as I was hoping that the VRM stuff then maybe gets written to the SD card but the SD card is not detected (16GB, Fat 32).
So I guess I haver to buy a new Color Control unit.
Is exchanging the COlor COntrol and replacing with exactly the same model pretty much like plug & play? I mean is it detecting the components connected and after ethernet/VRM configuration evreything is as previously or is this requiring heavy lifting from software/hardware point of view?
It’s possible that the internal storage is corrupted. This may also affect the SD card issue. It may be possible to completely reload the firmware from a (smaller) sd card. However, if you do need to completely replace the unit, then it is just plug and play. Also hace a look at upgrading to a Cerbo and touch50 or 70 screen.
Error #42 is fatal for a Color Control GX. If it’s still in warranty, you would likely get an Ekrano as a replacement.
It doesn’t look like you’re using the wiring box for the CCGX, but someone at Victron did a nice job with the Ekrano wiring box. It fits the same mounting points as the one for the CCGX.
Sadly, the Ekrano is a bit bigger than the CCGX and may not fit in that exact space in your caravan.
The Victron components of your system will be automatically discovered by the new GX unit, but generator settings, VRM setup etc has to be manually transferred.
