Cerbo GX (Mrk1) internet issue after 3.62

Dear All

I have a Cerbo GX (Mk1) that has been running for roughly 2.5 years. I have installed multiple updates on this device in the past. However, since I installed Firmware 3.62, I have issues with the internet connections over Wifi. At first I thought it was my router or internet but I double checked this and did multiple restarts. If I restart the Cerbo, it stays connected for less then 24 hr and I get the “normal” error of last connected X amount of time ago. I never had any issues previously. I did a roll back to 3.60, however, this did not solve the issue. It seems that the software favourours ethernet (I assume) as I am not sure why it disconnects and the rollback did not revert the internet issue as it stills disconnect. Can anyone assist with settings that I can change or should I run new cables via LAN (time is limited so not sure when I can schedule this)? or would you suggest to wait for update? I have seen some comments regarding connectivity issues in the Q&A sections, but I do not see any “resolve” feedback. Apologies if I missed this in other subsections in the forum.

Do you have both wifi and ethernet connected?
If so, set the Ethernet gateway to 0.0.0.0
This is a known issue, that should be easily found by searching the forum.

I would 100% run Ethernet connection for permanent infrastructure like Victron.

WiFi is too susceptible to interface which in turn makes fault finding have too many variables when it comes to other devices disrupting the frequency of WiFi, seen microwaves do it only in operation which makes it harder to fault find as the fault doesn’t exist unless the device has operated. Hopefully @nickdb suggested fix works

The behaviour of wifi and ethernet, how the GX prefers one over the other, is documented in the manual.
The challenge is where some users try use both, with LAN for local device connectivity.
Recent changes from 3.60 (iirc) have required the gateway change else it can break comms and the ability to access the internet for VRM.
Numerous topics have popped up since 3.60.

@nickdb , thank you for your reply. No I have only used WiFi for the last 2.5 years with no issues. I think my contribution to this issue is that with 3.62, that the “problem” persists even if you do a rollback to 3.60. Not sure if this is already logged with Guy / Dirk-J. I have seen the 0.0.0.0 solution but this is only valid for Ethernet connection if memory serves me correctly.

@Daza , thank you very much for the prompt reply. Indeed, I agree with you regarding the 2.4 frequency. However, this is situated far away from any appliances and a “own” dedicated wifi rooter that worked well the last 2.5 years. But, maybe it is time to trench dirt for a cable. :face_with_peeking_eye:

@nickdb, once again, thank you for the reply. As mentioned previously in my other reply, I have only used wifi. It was only when I “upgraded” to 3.62 when I started to lose connectivity within ± 24hr after reset. So it would mean it has a timestamp within the software to select the ethernet over wifi. Again, not sure if you had a feedback session already, but my contribution is that the rollback to 3.60 did not resolve the wifi disconnect issue. Hope this contributes if not already noted.
