I purchased my charger yesterday and everything worked perfectly overnight. Today I noticed amber and blue flashing leds on the unit…
victron connect app suggests I need a mandatory firmware upgrade to 3.25 ( suggests existing firmware is none).
However the firmware upgrade halts at 93% and returns an x88 coms failure code.
I have tried another iPhone with the same result.
Hi @Kenric59,
I’ll pass the bug report on to the VictronConnect developer, but I think given you’ve tried another iPhone already you should return the product to your dealer for an RMA.
Thanks Guy,
I will take it to the dealer. They may have witnessed the same problem and have a solution. Failing that they could offer a replacement.
Ken
I’ve heard back from R&D;
At 93% the update is actually completed but then it needs a confirmation from the charger, somehow is not happening.
Please try to disconnect the charger from the AC, wait a minute and then connect it again.
Thanks Guy,
I did this but everything remains the same. The charger appears to be charging, I just can’t communicate with it via the app beyond the app telling me that I need the download the firmware.
Also the leds continue to flash on the charger.

Ok, I’ve passed on your update. Depending on your patience you can either continue with the RMA or wait for more information from R&D.
Thanks Guy,
I’ll wait to see what R&D have to say before taking any further action.
This charger is in bootloader mode. This can be caused by an interrupted firmware update or hardware defect.
Given you have already tried to repeat the update with multiple different phones with the same result, it is determined to be a hardware failure.
This failure mode is typical for either a defect in flash memory, or the mode button being stuck.
In both cases, this unit should be returned for RMA.
I think that is the final word. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Thanks Guy!!! Much appreciated
