Im having the same issue with the 10A 12v smart-ip65 charger after the firmware update, was working fine and 5m later i did the firmware update and bang no longer working
Ive spoken to the place i purchased it from who want me to pay for return shipping to them so they can test it and possible start an RMA
Im not very keen on paying for postage to return a defective item considering im not at fault for the issue
I tried contacting my local dealer but they were less than interested on the phone, but i was advised buy place of purchase it can be returned to any Victron dealer for a replacement
Also finding it hard for the firmware not to cause the issue, within 10m of me using it then doing the update and reconnecting to the battery the unit had failed

They might take a bit of encouragement, but it should be possible to use the local dealer.
Next step I would recommend is filling in this form with all that info, including the name and contact details of the local dealer - Need support? - Victron Energy
Eventually that can be escalated to the regional sales manager if necessary and they can have a chat with the local dealer about how giving good quality of service for Victron helps everyone including them in the long run.
@Tomo951
having the same issue with the charger bought 2022, which works fine so far. After firmewareupdate at 21.April 2025 my product shows same behavier as descript in several posts.
Victron energy statet in their posts this is a HW issue and is not linked with the firmeware update. Startet a warrenty request, will see how fast they will react here in Germany. Might be more causes upcoming soonâŚ
I had a 15A IP65 charger that was less than a year old and lightly used. It did the same. Fault appeared to coincide with a firmware update.
I logged a fault via the Victron website Support pages and was referred to my local dealer but the query was monitored by Victron customer support. I had to pay for shipping the unit back. It was quickly tested, found faulty and replaced. I had to pay shipping for the new unit too but small price to pay for assurance that the RMA process works.
If your local dealer is unenthusiastic, log the fault via Victronâs website support pages.
Was this a faulty batch of relays that has been identified?
Iâm looking to buy a charger, but if the faulty hardware hasnât been rectified I might consider a different model.
Was it across the entire IP65 size range?
I had the same concern. It would be more comforting to see a release from Victron admitting there was a production or sourcing issue, so we donât end up RMAâing and ending up with the same issue.
My 15A âsmartâ charger also shows this symptom this morning when I needed it most. Over the last 3 or so years of owning it - it has been nothing but trouble - constant buggy behaviour.
I spent a lot of money on what I thought was a premium product but in the end I have lost my faith. Even the material the power lead is made of has crumbled away near the entry to the charger to expose the AC wires despite light / indoor use only. It goes in the bin this morning.
I have the same issue with my device. I claimed it at Victron support with the failure description âAlternating bulk and absorption lights and 1A charging limit.â and they gave it to Transwatt here in germany. Because my dealer is no longer existing (Bosswerke), Tanswatt wants to have money (40âŹ) for the handling. As this should be a well know issue, why cant Victron just send me a new device?
Who can help?
