Cannot update firmware for Multi-plus 3000 with VE.Bus to USB 3 adapter

I have several problems here. First, when I select my device using the VictronConnect Windows App, it immediately tells me that my firmware is incompatible. I have v408 and I need v415 or higher. I click OK I do see a screen showing input, output, battery voltages and all the other information I’d expect. What I bought this for is so I could correct the settings that as far as I can tell are incorrect in Absorption and Float voltages etc. If I try to enable settings it says I need a password which I can get from training?

So, two things: how can I update the firmware? Second, how can I access settings? That’s why I bought this adapter.

Thanks for any guidance.

Use veflash and the current firmware file for the unit. Settings need to be reapplied after an update.

When I use VEFlash for Wiindows it just asks me for the file. I’m trying to download from professional.victronenergy.com but the entire site is not responding.

Indeed, you need to provide the right file.
I just connected to the site fine, firmware all present in the relevant folders.

I see hundreds of files there. I don’t know which one. I see no 7 digit number on the system board, but there are three stickers which all have S/N Product etc but they are much longer. Sorry but I’m unclear which one to use.

VEFlash for windows won’t connect via the com: port I configured, which does work fine for VEConfigure for Windows. I looked for VEFlash for Android because my phone will connect via usb-ve.bus dongle. Can’t find that. My phone connects every time but complains initially about the firmware version being too low and then it displays and I configured the multi-plus just fine in that state. But I feel it would be best to have the latest and greatest updates for this unit.

i did mine today for the first time .i found out i have a very early firmware 142 and computer would not connect .but i updated the usb driver and now it connects ok. but if i try with my phone it says wrong firmware. i think i need to update the firmware to above 200 .i believe my inverter can only upgrade to the 200 firmware any higher will not work .

but for now im happy it connects fine on the compute r

I can connect now and it rejects the two files I picked at random. I’m getting closer now I just need to know which is the correct one.

Check the 4 digit hardware ID for the inverter on vrm. That will be a folder under vebus systens.

There is a bigger chip in the upper left, it has a sticker on it, that’s the number you need.

That got it. Thanks a bunch.

That helped me find the correct one and it installed OK. Thanks a whole lot. This stuff is old and difficult to deal with.
