Can I set LiFePO₄ charging on MultiPlus-II from Cerbo GX?

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for some guidance on configuring my MultiPlus-II to properly charge LiFePO₄ batteries instead of using the default GEL profile.

I haven’t been able to find clear information on how to adjust the charging settings for lithium. The Victron documentation states that VEConfigure can be used to set the charge algorithm for different battery types, including lithium, but it’s not clear whether this can also be done directly through the Cerbo GX using the GX Touch display.

Is it possible to change the MultiPlus-II charging profile to lithium from the Cerbo GX interface, or is using VEConfigure (locally or via remote access) the only way to do this?

For reference, here is my system:

  • MultiPlus-II 12/3000/120-50 (120V)

  • SmartSolar MPPT 100/50 (12/24V)

  • Cerbo GX MK2

  • GX Touch 50

  • Lynx Distributor

  • Lynx Shunt IP22 VE.Can (1000A)

  • (2) 314Ah WattCycle LiFePO₄ batteries

The MultiPlus-II is connected to the Cerbo GX via CAN bus.

Any clarification or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Unfortunately you will not be able to change the MP II settings through the Cerbo directly(although that would be fantastic). You will need to either connect to the MP VE Bus using the MK3 to USB with a computer and use Victron Connect or VEConfig. Or you can do the same using VRM if your Cerbo is connected to the internet. There are many tutorials out there on programming the MP for LI batteries.

I use Remote VEConfigure from VRM devices tab to access our MP2x120 using a PC. VRM creates a config file that gets downloaded to the PC, use VEConfig locally to change that file, then VRM to push the changed file back the MP.
