Bought used RV with Cerbo Gx and cannot install on my Victronnaccount

We bought a used Airstream that’s has several Victron products previously installed. We are having an issue connecting the Cerbo GX to any Victron app or portal as it needs to receive permission from the installer. How can we change it do that we are the admin do I can inergrate the Cerbo GX to our console and apps.?

For the VictronConnect app you need to get all Bluetooth PIN codes from the previous user. If you can not do this then each item will have a sticker on with a PUK code, you can reset the Bluetooth PIN with this.

For VRM you either need to be set as admin by the current user/installer or have them deregister the system. Alternatively, if you enter the Cerbo serial number on this page it should connect yiu with the dealer who can arrange this. They may ask for proof that you have the device. Use the lower enter serial number in the location below.

I am able to the readings on the GX50 screen, but not on the Victron Connect or the VRM app. The prior owner when reached out had the same issue and we do not have any info on who the installer is. I am not sure but I may be the third owner. So how do I change this device so that I am the admin now and can set it up on the apps? The apps are basically useless for monitoring the Cerbo GX if this can’t be addressed.

I have given info above how to get connected to any individual Smart products that have Bluetooth like SmartShunt or SmartSolar, you need to find the PUK code.

I have given above how to get your Cerbo registered on VRM account, you first have to contact to the original dealer on the site above using your serial number and then explain to them that you need the Cerbo deregistering from VRM. If the dealer does not help then you can escalate this up to Victron.

On the Cerbo GX, are you set to User or User and Installer. Settings > General > Access & Security > Access Level. If you want to swap to User & Installer the password is ZZZ (upper case). This will give you access to more settings.

You should then be able on the Touch screen to get to Settings > Connectivity > Bluetooth and input your own new Bluetooth PIN code.

If this does not work, then Section 8.4.2 in the manual (linked below) describes how you can reset all wifi / Bluetooth to Factory settings using the push button. In this case, for an old Cerbo the Bluetooth PIN will reset to 000000 (six zeros), newer models will reset to the PIN code on the serial number label.

Has one of the previous owners set up a password for access on the Cerbo via LAN. Settings > General > Access & Security > Local network security profile - is this set to secured. You may not get these menu items if you are on old firmware. If you are on the same network as the Cerbo then on a browser on a phone, laptop, pc or tablet go to the address http://venus.local.

If all else fails then a factory reset as described in the manual could be used to start again, but you would still need to register the device on VRM as above.

Have you fully read the manual as there is lots of info on there about setting up Bluetooth, wifi etc.

I am sorry but you don’t seem to understand my dilemma …. We are unable to locate who installed and initially registered the CerboGx….. so how do I get the unit switch to my account as an admin so I can install it under my account? I do not have these issues with the other Victron products? Perhaps there is a customer service number I can call?

Victron technical support is provided by the dealer that purchased the product from Victron. Go to the support website that I provided the link to, go half way down the page until you get to the enter serial number I dhowed you, click on this and enter the serial number, this will then give you contact details for the dealer. Then you can email the dealer for help. Victron does not provide direct customer support. I am not a Victron employee, merely a volunteer on the website.

When an ECU has been installed inside a boat electrics cupboard, then all the PKU cannot be seen. The boat builder will never write these down. It is difficult if you get a PIN lockout situation. Perhaps if PIN could be reset using Settings or VRM that might help.
