BMV-712 Installation

On my Toy Hauler the negative battery cable is grounded to the frame (just under the front of the RV). I can only assume the DC wiring at the controller is also grounded to the frame to complete the DC circuit. My question is in regards to the BMV-712 install. Is it acceptable to run the negative battery cable (from the battery itself) to the shunt and then the battery side of the shunt to the chassis ground?

The negative battery cable ground to the chassis and the DC circuit board are very far apart. If I have to get the negative battery terminal connected directly to the DC circuit board this will be a much more challenging install.

I understand the negative cable from the battery must be connected to the load side of the shunt. It’s the battery side that confuses me, can I just run that to the chassis ground (where the negative battery cable terminates currently).

I have a very basic single battery AGM setup. Know the discharge max is roughly 50% I’d really like to have better visibility into the state of the battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Negative terminal on the battery connects to the battery side of the shunt. Chassis ground connects to the system terminal on the shunt. Nothing else should be connected directly to the battery negative terminal, if there is anyyhing there at the moment move them all to the system terminal on the shunt. Therefore all charging and all loads will flow through the shunt. There is no need to add new cables if the Chassis ground currently works OK.
