Smart shunt travel trailer wiring

I want to install a smart shunt on my travel trailer. Battery negative cable connects directly to the chassis. Distribution panel is some distance away with no negative cable to the battery, just another negative to the chassis. Will the shunt work connected to battery and chassis ground?

This is exactly how I have one connected in my VW campervan, and it works fine :+1:

Thats a really interesting setup you have got there! Using the chassis as the negative return can definitely work but with the Smart Shunt its important to make sure all the negative connections loads, chargers and anything drawing or sending power pass through the shunt so it can read everything accurately. If even a few grounds go straight to the chassis instead of through the shunt your readings might be off. Are you planning to connect the shunt directly between the battery negative and the chassis or will it sit somewhere else in the circuit?
