Hi,
I have BMV-702 (without BT) connected to GlobalLink 520 via VE.Direct cable and it works ok. Is it possible to use VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle to make BT connection to GlobalLink 520, will it work?

Yes, that is supported. You’ll need to enable BLE Instant Readout by connecting to the dongle using the VictronConnect app. Then you can connect to the GlobalLink and configure it to read out the BMV via Bluetooth. (The two devices will of course need to be within Bluetooth range of eachother.) Refer to the VictronConnect manual for details on how to set this up.
Thx Daniel,
I replaced VE.Direct cable (BMV->GlobalLink) with Bluetooth Smart dongle and Instant Readout was activated.
Yes, now I it works fine with VictronConnect like before. But still I can’t fine solution how to get this BMV (or data of it) visible in VRM Portal. The GlobalLink doesn’t forwarding this battery data (SOC, V, etc.) to VRM and BMV missing from Device list in VRM. All devices are visible locally in VictronConnect (phone). Wil I try now something what is not possible
With VE.Direct cable I get BMV visible in VRM but the was not possible to get local access without that BT dongle. I guess that with BMV-712 (inc. BT) this not mind be issue.
Ps. I have also installed SmartSolar Charger MPPT and RuuviTag via GlobalLink and it works fine with VRM.
Perhaps the BT signal between the dongle and the GlobalLink is a bit weak, so it might take longer than expected for the BMV to show up in the “Smart Devices” list in the GlobalLink settings? Note the GlobalLink will only scan for new devices while that menu is open, so it might take a bit of time to show up there if the BT signal strength is low.
Hi,
Didn’t test yet that scanning time when menu is open longer. Need to check that but I thought that is there any limit’s to how many BT connections GlobalLink can be managed/forward towards VRM ? The VE.Direct connections it has two but how about BT connections?
Quoting from the manual section 11.3.:
We recommend connecting no more than 25 Victron smart devices to the GlobalLink 520.
Thx Daniel.
Problem has solved. Some times is good to read manuals ones again…
In the Smart devices menu - “Toggle the slider to enable (disabled by default) those you want to see on the VRM portal.” I was missed to toggle the slider…
Now BMV is visible also in VRM and locally by VictronConnect
