Hi All, just replaced my 250/60. Up and running, but … just discovered, there is no ve.smart networking available in options which is limiting me using shunt or sync charging with 2nd mppt. after a reset, is coming back for a while, so at least i’m trying to join new or existing net - result is same - message says : “The Network is almost complete” -see picture, and then ve.smart is gone completly not showing anymore.
Hi Ludo, Unfortunately issue is, from the perspective of 250/60 there is no VE.Smart Net visible even as options available. it is gone, so there is no way even to try to join
The VE.Smart network cannot be setup with a (USB) VE.Direct cable or via Remote VRM on these products because the internal MPPT part does not route traffic from the external VE.Direcct port to the internal Bluetooth dongle. You really need to connect with bluetooth to be able to set the VE.smart networking.
@maciej Can you perhaps create a service report after connecting to the MPPT and post the service report here? The procedure to create a service report is described here: 13. Troubleshooting
Thiemo, one more remark in addition. When I initially start the 250/60, in a Product Info page, there was surprisingly a PV short relay switch, which i’ve learned is designed for 250/100 only.but then quickly went to fw upgrade procedure to be up to date as though such a functions may be in common for 250 family with SW limitations for lower models like mine, where at the end, right after fw upgrade the short relay switch disappeared.
We have identified an error in the software of the internal and external Bluetooth dongles. This error causes VE.Smart networking to be disabled when the dongle is connected to or part of a SmartSolar 250/60 Rev3 and the SmartSolar 250/70 rev3. Because of this, the menu is also not visible in VictronConnect.
When a solution will be available is unfortunately unknown at this time.
A VE.Direct connection itself is not a problem. You can use VictronConnect on a PC with a VE.Direct USB cable to change the settings of the MPPT and still have VE.Smart networking configured, doing its thing. It is however not possible to change the settings of the bluetooth dongle and this is where the settings for VE.Smart networking are stored. In this case, we do not want to automatically disable VE.Smart networking in the bluetooth dongle.
Using VE.Smart networking together with a VE.Direct connection to a GX device that has DVCC enabled normally should work, but might lead to uncertainty with respect to which voltage or temperature is used. So therefore, the general advice is to disable VE.Smart networking and use DVCC in that case, as DVCC offers the same functionality as VE.Smart networking.
In general, this is described in the product manual as there are some differences between products. Some have a button or another method that can be used to reset the settings back to factory default, which would also re-enable the bluetooth. Some other products re-enable the bluetooth for the first 30 seconds after powerup so you are able to connect with VictronConnect during that period and configure the bluetooth to be always on.
For the SmartSolar chargers, the only way to re-enable bluetooth is by connecting a VE.Direct USB cable directly to a windows pc, Mac or Android device and run VictronConnect, or by connecting it to a VRM connected GX device using VE.Direct and connect via the VictronConnect Remote tab.
