Hi, I have a Multiplus Compact 12 | 2000 | 80-50 120V & Onan QG 2500 lp generator in a 2021 American Coach Patriot, Mercedes 3500 XD Sprinter. I bought it used in October 2024, and suspect the problem I have has existed from the time I bought it. When the motor is running, everything works fine: main roof a/c, house battery charges, all outlets work & there’s no problems. When I run the generator everything works but the battery doesn’t charge. When I’m plugged into shore power it is not recognized–a/c will work for a minute, cut off & struggle to restart, outlets won’t work and there is no noticeable change with multi meter or on the Victron Connect app. I bought the MK3-USB VE.Bus and set everything correctly and still no battery charging with generator or shore power. I’ve checked all connection and checked voltage at all points I can think of and nothing appears to be connected improperly and voltages are fine. I removed the house battery and took it to a battery seller, and they refused to put a load tester on it because it had a little swelling, which they said could cause it to explode (battery is: Relion REV-8D-330ah AGM 12v Deep Cycle), and they just connected a simple tester which showed the normal cold cranking amperage of 1,200 was down to 608 CCA and the voltage was 12.39v, which caused the tester to say: “Replace Battery”. I took it home and trickle charged it up to 13.4, which running the Mercedes motor brings it back up to. The MPPT 100 | 30 solar seems to work fine. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Use the Mk3 and VE configure program to access the multiplus (you may also be able to do this with VE connect
). This will show the Ac input Voltage and frequency. Check to see if these are within normal limits.
Under the grid tab of VE configure, there is a grid protection log (or similar name), which if present may show the reason for non connection.

Thank you very much MikeD. It says: “IP protection is empty” under the protection log. Does anyone know of a good tech in the Northern Virginia/DC area who is familiar with a system like this? Thanks.
does the VE bus monitor on VE configure show the correct voltage and frequency input when the generator is running?
