5x MPPT (1x SCC network) -. 1x Cerbo GX

Hi, I have looked but remain confused… I’m sure this MUST have been covered before though so apologise in advance.
We have 5x 100-50 MPPT controllers (5x circa 1Kw PV strings), 2x MultiPlus Inverter/Chargers & circa 15KwH of Lithium batteries with 1x Cerbo GX.
DVCC is enabled.
The MultiPlus units, Lithium & Cerbo all work pretty much as expected :+1::grinning_face:
So I’m now at the point of connecting the 5x MPPTs. These 5 are connected as a smart network and I now need to connect ‘them’ to the Cerbo… Would 1x VE.direct cable achieve this (master MPPT in the network to the Cerbo) or does each MPPT (master & slaves) need its own dedicated connection ?
I fully understand that the MPPT smart network is achieved using BT and that there are only 3x VE.direct ‘slots’ on the Cerbo and would need to adopt a USB-style approach should all 5 need a connection…
I don’t yet have the MPPTs fully connected (but have laid in 1x VE.direct cable) and would prefer to get it right whilst at the cable laying stage / before closing the trunking etc rather than having to open everything up after finally connect to the PV strings…
Thanks in advance.

Each MPPT needs to be connected to the GX device and the Smart network should be disabled.

VE Smart Network and VE Direct do not always play together nicely, often giving erratic results.

No plans for a SmartShunt? That would be another VE.direct cable

Good idea but we’d still be one link / cable / connection short…
We’re currently thinking that :
1: we will add a SmartShunt to measure wind generator output
2: we will connect the SmartShunt with the 5x MPPT controllers via (6x VE. Direct → USB cables) to a local powered hub.
3: route the USB hub cable back to the Cerbo
Seems a reasonable (if a little expensive) solution. Then, as mentioned in another post, switch off the Smart MPPT networking and… in theory, all will be well.
Thanks to all for your solutions - appreciated.

Excellent !
Many thanks for sharing your knowledge and the solution…

Thanks. I wasn’t aware of that.
