AC Bypass Switch Wiring - need to switch N?

Hello,
This is in reference to the MultiPlus 12/3kVa 2x 120.

When installing an AC-input bypass switch, as mentioned in Wiring Unlimited on page 56, is it necessary to ‘switch’ the N in addition to L1 & L2?

Or, is it acceptable and safe to only ‘switch’ the L1 and L2, while having the N connected to a common bus? This would mean when bypassing the MP, the N would be connected to the AC distribution panel & the MP AC-Out.

The diagram in Wiring Unlimited shows both N & L. I have a switch that is capable of switching L1 & L2, but not N. Should I source a switch that will also do N?

Hello.

The picture from Wiring Unlimited says you should switch the Neutral line too.
When the Multiplus switches into inverter mode, the N is switched away from the grid, and
connected to Earth, if the N line stays connected you can get a leakage current running over
the still connected N line which is not a good thing.

Ahhh yes. This makes sense. That could cause GFCI outlets from the AC panel to trip too.
