3.50~13 (or maybe ~10) WiFi / VRM does not reconnect after network connection is was lost

I run the VRM on an Easysolar 3000 GX.

If the WiFi Connection is lost the GX device does not reconnect to the WiFi router.
During the night the WiFi connection is switched off.
Before one of the recent the firmware updates, the WiFi connection of the GX device was reestablished automatically, and also the VRM connection was established after the set period)

Now, the connection does not recover and the GX device has to be switched off & on to regain control )

(this behavior is introduced with one of the last firmware updates)

Hi @JanOsch

Does enabling this feature resolve it? Can you disable the automatic reboot when a GX device loses internet? - #5 by guystewart

Or has there been any other change to behaviour since you made this bug report?

Actually, I encountered this behavior as well with a Venus GX running v3.55 stable that was connected over Wifi.
When the GX would power up before Wifi was up & running, it would have trouble connecting to the Wifi network.
A reboot of the GX after Wifi is up would fix it.
At the time I blamed my peculiar setup (multi-SSID per AP + EM24 connected PtP on the GX Ethernet port) for this behavior but maybe it’s something else after all.
If you like I can try to reproduce this on v3.60

There is so much blame that can around on wifi networking,

It would be useful to provide as much detail as possible on how to reproduce the issue, specific hardware and configurations, and the works arounds that work.

Then it might be possible to do something about it.

Though I am quite sure we can’t solve all the issues of wifi at the GX, and a lan cable is always my preferred long term solution when possible.

For me this behavior stopped - some months ago.

So if a WiFi connection is lost, I have to wait for the timeout so the GX device is rebooting, and the connection is working again (about a month after I filed the issue)
Good question which VRM version, But I also changed the Router .

Hope this helps…

Two quick tests I just ran:

  1. Shut down Wifi AP while GX is running, wait a few minutes, then boot the AP again.
Result: GX properly reconnects to the Wifi network
  2. Initiate GX reboot and immediately after that shut down the Wifi AP, so that when the GX is fully booted up there is no Wifi present or known by the GX to reconnect to.
After multiple minutes (GX fully booted by then) I booted the AP again.
It took a few minutes but the GX did reconnect to the Wifi network when that was online again.

There was a change in v3.60 Wifi code after my bug report so at least for me the issue isn’t there anymore.
(OK, I only did two tests, but meh)

Materials used:
Ubiquiti Unifi AP running Multiple SSIDs
Venus GX running v3.60, internet via Wifi and EM24 via Ethernet direct link.

Thanks both, So I will consider for you that this is now resolved.
