I have a GX on NMEA 2000 (pulled fuse on adapter) that works and when I plug in the Garmin with the marine network cable all data shows up great on my Garm 8617. Problem is I lose WIfi (tried my Starlink or separate WiFi from hot spot.) and VRM. Unplug the marine network cable all comes back with realtime VRM monitoring. I’m stuck. Tried auto and static IPs. NMEA 2000 still connected (no marine network cable) and VRM works. Ideas?
Okay got it to work. Added a tp link 300 ethernet to usb adapter. Plugged the ethernet cable from the starlink gen 2 adapter (had to purchase from starlink) into the usb port on the GX. then plugged the marine network cable from the garmin to the ethernet port on the GX. I get realtime updates on VRM and see the victron logo and info on the Garmin 8617 (onehelm) mfds. I can do SW updates on activecaptain through the garmin wifi (Iphone transfer). and all else works. AI (Google Gemini and ChatGPT), suggested i buy a POE Isolator, i did and a network switch, I did. But those two were not needed. it all works without them.
