25kWh consumption in under 5 seconds in VRM

I have a Victron VM-3P75CT setup as grid meter, and that somehow magically today decided to completely destroy

my VRM data in under FIVE SECONDS. Yes. This is a span of one hour, but it was really done in a blink of an eye.. All I did was trigger a reboot (Device list → Gateway → Reboot GX device)..

Can this be reversed, please? It pretty much eliminates the use of VRM data for me.

Anyone ever seen something this crazy?

Pfft. Hate to admit it, but.. here’s what caused this erratic behaviour.

A new Victron VM-3P75CT was installed on site, with the CT installed in the wrong orientation. Thus instead of producing energy. Feeding back into the grid. Selling it. It was measures as energy that was bought from the grid.

I noticed the error the following day and fixed it. I had no idea how to reset the meter and thus left it as is. Later on someone found a way to reset the values with the help of some Node-RED fu.

Little did I know… then yesterday I had to trigger a reboot of the Cerbo GX MKII. That was when it happened. Turns out that you can reset the value, but somehow. Deep down it’s still seeing the old values.

The lack of documentation about this kind of stuff is annoying. To say the least. Seem like that time and time again people need to re-invent the wheel. Forced to make silly mistakes that basically ruin your day at work.

So much for being an expert. You see. You can be an expert and yet. A noob for something out of your domain.

Anyway. So far for my short rant. I hope that whoever comes here. Someone who runs into the same kind of weird behaviour, that this. The time I’ve taken to document it. That it helps you to understand what is going on.
