I just installed a new Multiplus-II to add to 2 existing units to make a 3 phase system. The 2 existing units are compatibility ID 2627 and the stickers on the new unit say 2627_A. I connected with VE Configure to load my settings and it said something like setting from a different version installed. I checked the software version and it says 2683. I connected the unit to a Cerbo and checked it again through VRM and it also says 2683. Serial numbers are correct but compatibility ID doesn’t match.
My question is, is there a way to make these compatible or is it a take back and swap exercise? I’m 2 hours drive away so hoping not to have to take it back. Then am I going to have the same thing happen again. I’m tipping the dealer won’t want to power it up to check it for me.
It’s not a wrong ID. Firmware ID and compatibility ID can be different.
If all are 2627 on the label there should be no need to change anything, the A only matters in parallel configs which doesn’t apply here, the firmware ID does not matter. Veconfigure might moan as the configs aren’t universal between firmware versions but that shouldn’t prevent the unit being configured for it’s phase, you just can’t reapply the same veconfigure file from one to the other.
Note: The 4-digit number in the compatibility ID does not necessarily represent the firmware version of the unit itself. For instance a MultiPlus-II 24/5000/120-50 could require firmware version 2696xxx while the compatibility id sticker on that unit shows 2615_B.
VE.Bus systems can only be made with devices with identical 4-digit numbers and only devices with the same letter can be put in a single phase.
Thanks Nick. The 2 existing units don’t have compatibility stickers on them so VRM and VE Configure was the only way for me to find the 2627 number. These are the stickers off the existing units.
Thanks Nick. I’ll continue with the install tomorrow. As per the manual I use the firmware version (2627560) for the 2 existing units with no sticker and use the sticker number (2627_A) and ignore the firmware version (2683560) on the new unit.
