Has anyone got some bright ideas with regards to a supplier that makes nice wireless buttons that would work with MQTT to then bring the actions into node red on a Cerbo. I know there are some ZIgbee switches around, however that means you need to use a ZIGBEE to MQTT bridge. other than designing and building ones ourself with an ESP and MQTT on it, i would like to hear from anyone else. Ideally a Bluetooth battery powered unit that Victron could see directly would be awesome. Or with WIFI over MQTT, but needs to be battery operated.
i dont know if you have given the shelly button a look already but it could maybe fit what you search. With blu to mqtt conversion from shelly it should be able to integrate it via MQTT to Victron. I dont know if the button can use the bluetooth from the cerbo as a gateway but i suspect not. So combining it with another (or multiple) shelly bluetooth products as a gateway could give you better coverage where to use the button.
I would look into wireless battery powered switches / buttons using what’s called “Matter over Thread”.
See here for why:
Here is a button I found:
Note that I don’t know yet how reliable all that is, but its definitively the first avenue that I recommend to look into.
You could make it all work together using Node-RED.
And be aware that you need one additonal hardware product that is a so called “thread border router”. I did a quick search, and this one looks nice. Just needs power, conveniently provided from USB-A instead of typical AC plug, so its easy to install in a DC oriented install like a camper van:
Thank you , thats very helpful and will take a look into this as options for things like bedside switches and bathroom switches , sheltered outside switches.
