I am installing my leisure batteries and controls at the rear of my Peugeot Boxer. Given the almost 6 metre run to the vehicle battery from this location what gauge cable would i need for the Orion XS 12/12 to connect to the vehicle battery at the front of the van?
I imagine it will need to be quite a heavy cable and are the Orion units able to accept such heavy duty gauge? if not is there a connection solution?
The biggest the orion can take is 25mm² and it is a difficult fit.
What is a possibility is a much larger cable with a pin type of lug.
Try using the victron toolkit to work out voltage drop and it will recommend a cable size.
Your other option is to run a fat gauge to bus bars on both ends and then attach the orion and battery/alternator source on the other. With normal 16mm² to the bus bar for the orion, that way you are also able to expand or change things as needed without too much fuss. And fusing become a bit less tricky.
