I’m just about to purchase an XS1400 and I see that the max. cable size is listed as 4AWG which Victron says equates to 21.2mm2. When I buy the cable, (not in the US), as far as I’m aware, it will come in the metric equivalent which is 25MM2, does this fit or would I need to snip out a few strands?
The Orion XS 1400 has a short curcuit current of 50A. A standard fine strand(flexible)16mm² PVC battery cable generally has a nominal current rating of 110A. This is a common rating for this size of cable in automotive, marine, and other low-voltage DC applications where flexibility and durability are important.
Depends on the length of the cable. But indeed, 16mm² will normally be enough.
