The DESS is requesting 59% SOC, batteries are 40% but there is NO charging going on.
DESS keeps forecasting “X KWH grid to battery”, for example 5KWH but it does not happen..
If I move minimum SOC higher than current SOC, charging starts mediately.
If I choose “Keep batteries charged”, charging starts mediately.
There should be no limits in DESS keeping if from charging.
Multiplus II 48/5000 updated to 558, and Cerbo v3.66.
Batteries are requesting 56.8V and 120A.

Did you reinstall the assistants after the update?

Thanks for answering.
Yes, I did.
Without it, you can not enable ESS at all.

How long has it been this way? Has it worked before?

I have used the system in “green mode” for a year and that has worked fine.
Since yesterday I have switched to “trade mode”, and that is when the issues have started.
Perhaps there is an misconfiguration, but its not doing what I am expecting..

When DESS target is below current SOC, it does discharge, so that works.

Like now, DESS Target SOC is 78% and current is 39%..
Forecasted charging is like 6 KWK+ but no charging.

Make sure under dess setting - battery - advanced there is no limit on charging the battery from the grid.
Also check the battery settings, these are used to calculate when charging starts.

Do you want to restrict the battery usage? =NO.
Battery settings are correct.
Even reset the Cerbo now to Factory Reset and set it up again, did not help.

Is it forecasting charging from the grid or from PV?

The forecasting is charging from the grid. It just does not happen.
If I turn off DESS and use only ESS, it all works as expected.
Also, if I manually increase minimum SOC it charges as expected.

I would give it some time, maybe the system just needs to settle in. At least a couple of days.
DESS likes to keep the battery SOC at a minimum, something many people (including me) find very annoying and looks very illogical most of the time.

Can you provide the number in the VRM dashboard url so I can take a look why it isn’t charging?

Is this message meant for the topic starter? I have no problem with a system not charging.
I just meant in general DESS likes to cut it close with the SOC which is good and expected. It would just be nice to be able to reserve some power for the inevitable mistakes/unexpected power use.

Battery is now resting at minimum SOC, 15%. While target SOC is 35%.

This was for the topic starter. Sorry about not being clear about that.

A few things to check when you changed the algorithm from Green to Trade:
use the latest stable VenusOS version, which is 3.66. Do a reboot of the GX device and let it sit for 15 minutes, then check behaviour.
Check formulas. These days the spread is very low which can cause your battery to sit in idle state. Lower battery cost to let’s say 0.02 or even 0.01. Wait again and check the diagrams.
What is your minimum SoC level? It should be below the target SoC.
