Whats wrong with my blue smart 12/12 20-3 charger?

Hello,

Please tell me what is wrong with my charger.

It is connected as follows:

AC-230v—>Bluesmart IP22—>OrionTR Smart—> Third Party Lifepo4 Drop Battery 100Ah

I am using the Mains AC supply to power the bluesmart charger which is configured to be a power supply limited to 20Amps. In turn it is connected to the input of my Orion TR Smart which is charging a third party Lifepo4 100Ah battery, which has built in BMS.

The use case is for my safari trailer. Normally the car charges the battery via the Orion TR. But when it is not in use everynow and then I charge the battery to 80% by connecting the AC/DC charger to the trailers input connection that normally connects to the car.

The problem is that the output voltage is incorrect. When first turned on the output voltage will be correct but as soon as the load exceeds 9.8A then the output voltage is reduced.

The Orion TR has engine shutdown detection turned off.

Screenshots below, and help very much appreciated.

What Orion TR Smart do you have?
My guess is that you are overloading the charger and that causes the voltage to drop.

Wrong function?

My charger

Hi,

As stated in my text, I have on purpose configured the charger to be power supply. It is supplying DC voltage to the INPUT of the Orion TR Smart 12/12 18.

The charger is NOT connected to the battery. Its connected to the INPUT of the Orion TR Smart.

The Orion TR Smart 12/12-18 is rated for 18Amps on the output, but I dont know what maximum it can take on the input.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Alex

That sounds possible I suppose. Its Orion TR Smart 12/12-18. The Blue smart is rated for 20Amps.

What is the meaning of the text in the screenshot above:

“and current limited to the configured values”

Does that not mean the charger will limit the current, or does it mean that the configured value is the limit it can deliver.

Same issue occurs if charger configured to 10A.

Of course with the low voltage it puts out the current goes up, and charger gets hot. So I turn it off.

Many thanks,

Alex
