We'll use excess energy to power the heating system, but only during the winter

Hello friends,

Hope find a solution here.

My system is in a completely isolated location.

It consists of :

Solar panels
48Vdc Li-ion battery (26 kWh)
MPPT 250/70
Orion-Tr DC-DC 48/24 - 380W because the load is 24Vdc
I don’t have an inverter and therefore no AC installation.

I am working on NODE RED and have launched a node programme that should activate a heating resistor once the battery is fully charged . I am playing around with the SOC and relay 1 included in CERBO GX, if the SOC is at 100%, I activate the heating to run it with the surplus.
The heating operates at 48 Vdc.

So far, so good… except that I only need to activate this programme from October to April. I don’t need to heat during the other months.

So, do you know how to add things to NODE RED to achieve this ?

Thank you for your help.

You will be wasting solar gain if On happens at 100%, as system throttles down when close to 100%.
Better to bring on heater load a bit lower than 100% and better still to have a staged load - part load at say 90% / 100% load @ 97% SOC.
Will take a little playing with on/off %.
I have a DC heater with 3 stages( 540w / 810w / 1350w)which works from a connected victron to aduino with relay board and dc contactor’s. Works a treat.

Hi,
Thank you for your feedback  .

I am lowering the value that triggers the electric heating, following your advice. I appreciate your comment.

Do you have a solution for activating this programme only during a specific period of the year? I still haven’t resolved this issue.
I look forward to hearing from you.

There is a Big Timer(maybe you need to download)where you can choose between days of the year….maybe the easiest option…. cheers Frank

I’ll see if I can do that, I’ll keep you posted… thank you very much

Hi Abdel,I walk you through,if you need…Best regards Frank

With your cerbo, you’ve even got the chance to control a hot water heater(those with two or three seperate heating elements on one block)switching 2 relays)With an extender you can add another two relays…..Best regards Frank
