I have a system with the following components I will be assembling:
Grid tied Fronius Primo 5 with 14 panels
Fronius TS100A smart meter
Victron Multiplus 6k5
Victron solar charger with 4 panels
2 x Pylontech Fidus Pro 5 kwh
Victron Cerbo
Will I need a smart meter to see grid exported energy? If so, should that be a victron smart meter or a fronius smart meter? Or doesn’t it matter? Or will the cerbo+ multiplus be able to give me the information?
Maybe I need both smart meters (Fornius + Victron)?
Best regards, Andy
If it is wired on AC OUT 1 i.e. ’ behind’ the Multiplus (looking from the grid side) - no meters are required. As all the Power from/to the GRID must flow via Multiplus, it it will use its internal meters
If wired on AC IN side i.e in front of the Multiplus (looking from the grid side) - you need, indeed, the meter.
I believe it’s better to have a Victron one as it needs to be communicated with Cerbo GX (which will supervise net grid in/out power flow)
Thanks SebC - makes sense what you say in hindsight. From the documentation I could find, I always thought the Fronius had to be on the Multiplus AC out. Thank you!
