Having had a 2nd Cerbo go down within a couple of years, I’m surprised to note that Pre-RMA Bench Test Instructions does not have a GX device category…
Perhaps the trouble shooting tree for these is too complex, but some basic tests could be included, such as operation of the power supply, showing lights, and any connectivity?
I found the GX test instructions on an old papyrus scroll in the basement of the Rijksmuseum. Translating from ancient engineer, It goes like this:
Step 1. Did you let the Magic Smoke out?
- Yes = Your fault, not covered under warranty
Step 2. Is the fuse blown?
- Yes = Your fault, you did something wrong. Find cause. Repair the cause. Replace the fuse. Try again. Go to step one.
Step 3. When you turn on power to the CerboGX, does the Wi-Fi LED start flashing orange?
- No = It’s toast. Send it in.
- Yes = Go to step 4.
Step 4. Does the Wi-Fi LED stop flashing orange after about 2 minutes?
- No = It failed to boot. Ask for help reloading the Venus OS and resetting the device.
- Yes = It probably booted up. If you can’t tell if it booted, Read The Fine Manual.

Though step 2 if True = infinite loop…
